Nicole was appointed Executive Vice President & Co-Head, Global Banking and Markets, U.S. in November 2024. In her role, Nicole is responsible for scaling our U.S. platform as we deliver for our clients and continue to keep our Bank safe.
In her previous role, as Executive Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer, Nicole ensured compliance, AML and financial crimes risks are managed effectively against heightened regulatory expectations.
Nicole also stood up the Bank’s first Internal Controls unit and built strong teams across our global footprint to proactively identify risk.
She is a seasoned leader with diverse expertise across Risk Management, Global Banking and Markets, and International Banking.
Paul Scurfield
Executive Vice President and Global Head, Capital Markets, Global Banking and Markets
Paul Scurfield is the Executive Vice President and Global Head of Capital Markets at Scotiabank. In this role, Paul is responsible for the Global Equities and Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities business lines and oversees Scotiabank’s global presence in institutional equity sales and trading, equity derivatives, prime services and equity research, as well as global trading, sales and debt capital markets activities.
Paul joined Scotiabank in September 2019 and was, most recently, Managing Director and Global Head of Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities.
Prior to joining Scotiabank, Paul spent nearly 20 years at a Global Investment Bank in both Toronto and New York. In that time, he held a variety of leadership positions across Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange and Equities. He sat on both the Equity and Fixed Income Management Committees.
Paul completed his HBA at the Richard Ivey School of Business which included a term at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM).
