Managing Director and Head, Global Equity Capital Markets
Michelle Khalili is a Managing Director and Head, Global Equity Capital Markets at Scotiabank. She leads a team of professionals providing origination and execution of equity and equity-linked transactions in Canada, the United States and Latin America. Michelle is also the Executive Lead of The Scotiabank Women Initiative for Global Banking and Markets.
Michelle has over 20 years’ experience, holding diverse and progressively senior roles in Investment Banking and Equity Capital Markets. Prior to joining Scotiabank, Michelle was a member of the Private Capital Investment Banking team at CIBC, focused on pension funds, private equity and sovereign wealth funds, as well as in the Equity Capital Markets group, working on the origination and execution of equity financings. Michelle also spent four years at Goldman Sachs as Head of Equity Capital Markets – Canada and was a member of Goldman Sachs Canada's Board of Directors.
Michelle is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Ontario Brain Institute and is Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee. She is also a member of the Ontario Securities Commission’s Advisory Council to the CEO and will be joining the Board of Directors of the New Self Regulatory Organization, following the merger of IIROC and the MFDA. Michelle was previously a member of the Board of Directors for Women's College Hospital. Michelle is past Chair of the 100 Women in Finance's Committee in Canada, a global organization of more than 15,000 professionals. Michelle also served as Vice Chair and Board Member of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada, and as a member of its Human Resources and Pension Committee.
Michelle has been involved in a number of community initiatives, including the Canadian Women's Foundation, the Royal Ontario Museum and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation Run for the Cure. She was recognized with an Industry Award for Leadership by Women in Capital Markets, and has received the WCM Executive Coaching Award and the Champions of Change Award.
